This bespoke living room installation was designed and built for a residential client in Kent. MST Building Services Ltd were commissioned to create custom-built alcove units and shelving around the fireplace, maximising storage and enhancing the overall look of the space. The project combined traditional craftsmanship with a clean, modern finish.
Client’s Challenge
The client wanted a practical storage solution that also complemented the existing décor and made better use of the fireplace wall. Off-the-shelf furniture wouldn’t fit the dimensions or match the desired aesthetic, so a bespoke approach was required to achieve a seamless, built-in look.
Our approach and solution
Our joinery team designed and hand-built made-to-measure cabinetry on-site, featuring shaker-style doors, soft-close fittings, and integrated LED lighting. Each alcove was carefully measured to ensure symmetry and precision, finished in a durable paint to match the client’s interior palette. Floating shelves were fitted above each cabinet to display family photos and ornaments.

The completed living space is elegant, functional, and full of character. The new units frame the fireplace beautifully, providing both storage and display while maintaining a warm, homely feel. A perfect balance of craftsmanship and design.
